Overview:
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our construction team. The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing and promoting health and safety practices across our construction sites to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe working environment for all employees and subcontractors.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and practices; recommend corrective actions and monitor implementation.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into project planning and execution.
Provide guidance and support to site personnel on health and safety issues, including training, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and hazards; prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
Monitor and analyze health and safety performance metrics; prepare and present reports to management and regulatory agencies as required.
Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to health and safety; ensure continuous improvement of safety standards.
Conduct emergency response drills and coordinate with emergency services as needed.
Manage and maintain health and safety documentation, records, and certifications.
Promote a positive safety culture through communication, engagement, and recognition of safe behaviors.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.
Proven work experience as a Health and Safety Manager or similar role in the construction industry.
Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, HSE).
Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills; attention to detail is critical.
Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure in fast-paced environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and health and safety management software.
Certification in First Aid/CPR and knowledge of emergency response procedures.
