Qualifications & Competencies

We are looking for a candidate who has a 'can do' attitude, enjoy working in a fun, ever-changing environment, enjoy meeting people, and can work well under pressure while respecting the below job requirements:
Minimum 3 years experience driving tourists (or similar driver position)
-Good Knowledge of Mauritius, its history and sites
-Good driving records (road offences, accidents etc)
-Excellent customer service skills
-Ability to give tour commentary
-Pleasant appearance (dress, grooming and hygiene)
-Fluent in both English and French
-No criminal record
-Know all the road signs and the rules of the road.
-Over the age of 30 years
-People’s person – friendly, communicative, polite and respectful

Roles and Responsibilities

Driver - As a tour driver you will be on the road constantly, so you will have to be comfortable with driving long distances, respect all road regulation and traffic rules and provide safe driving and reliable service to our customers

Tour Guide - Most of the time, the driver is also the tour guide. It will be your duty to make sure that the passengers are kept entertained and informed at all times, so provide interesting facts and anecdotes throughout the trip. However, you need to be able to tell when you should stop talking and let them just take in the scenery.

Cleaning the Vehicle - You will need to make sure that the car is clean for your passengers.

An International Tour Company operating in Mauritius, having our head office in Grand Bay is looking for an experienced, reliable tour driver for our clients.
We are looking for an experienced, energetic driver guide who can deliver an exciting, informative, entertaining tour whilst providing an exceptional level of customer service.
The right person will have a passion for the outdoors, great public speaking skills and a thirst for knowledge.

Applicants are preferred to have prior experience in driving tourists and tour guiding.

Summary:
Even though you are driving the entire time, it is exciting work as you travel to new places and your work environment changes all the time.
You do work for a company, so you will have to be on your best behavior, and you will have to report to your dispatcher every now and again or the tour director in charge.
You will also need to be able to follow a strict schedule and know how to read time tables. It is a bit of a juggling act as you have to watch the traffic, watch the passengers and keep them informed at the same time.
